Biography







Dr. Martha Fabrique is a professional flutist and ethnomusicologist based in San Antonio, Texas.  She is on the faculty at San Antonio College currently and has taught at Our Lady of the Lake University, Trinity University, and Metropolitan State College in Denver. Martha earned her DMA (Doctorate of Musical Arts) from the University of Colorado-Boulder in 1997. She performs with the Mid-Texas Symphony, Majestic Theater productions, the San Antonio Symphony, and is featured as a guest artist with local chamber ensembles. Additionally, she is an accomplished performer and scholar of the shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute).  She has been on the faculty at the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp as flute and chamber music instructor for many years.  Dr. Fabrique received master’s degrees in flute and ethnomusicology from Florida State University and her bachelor’s degree from the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music. Her flute teachers include Sarah Fouse, William Hebert, Karen Yonovitz, Charles Delaney and Geoffrey Gilbert.
